Have you ever wondered what it would be like to see Candyland or Willy Wonka come to life? Well, Candytopia is it, so have your sweet tooth ready!
Candytopia, an interactive art installation made completely of candy, made its way to Atlanta in February and will be here until June 2nd. There's a dozen rooms for your candy-filled enjoyment.
Once the magical doors open, you will be greeted by a Willy Wonka-like tour guide who will explain the rules, invite you to have fun and get candy wasted! Here you will receive your first piece of candy on this sweet adventure – Lindt chocolates, served on a larger than life tray. After this, the real fun begins as you enter into a candy-lovers paradise!
This scented and sensory art installation is a candy-filled playground complete with swings, slides, see-saws, confetti, marshmallow pit, giant flowers squirting unique candy-themed smells, life-size lollipops, and of course tons of candy! There’s also candy souvenirs in every room including Airheads, Starbursts, Trolli gummy worms, and chocolate, so be sure to grab some to keep your sugar levels high while you make your way through this candy theme park!
Each candy-themed room is full of portraits, sculptures, and other Instagram-worthy props made from jelly beans, red vines, gumballs, gummy bears, candy corn, Swedish fish, rock candy, and every other candy you can think of. You'll find candy art pieces featuring Cardi B, Snoop Dogg, Prince, the Mona Lisa, Van Gogh's Starry Night, and more. The candy masterpieces in Candytopia include an information sign that notes how long the piece of candy art took to make, how many pieces of candy are in it (and what types), and how many grams of sugar is contained in the candy creation. The art-lover in me really appreciated this since so much time and effort goes into making this candy magic.
My favorite part of this tasty extravaganza was the confetti room, even though confetti isn't so tasty (I had a ton of confetti in my mouth). Confetti is thrown in the air as you walk through streamers and make your grand entrance into this room full of color, unicorns, and confetti. You're able to get on a spinning Trolli candy wheel where you'll be blessed with more confetti. This is definitely a great photo op! Thankfully there are air hoses at the end of this exhibit to blow off the confetti. Even though I was still finding confetti in my hair, mouth, and everywhere else hours later, I had a blast in this room!
The Candytopia adventure ends with a huge treat - a gigantic Jet-Puffed marshmallow pit. Thankfully, these marshmallows are made of foam (otherwise it would be a sticky mess). Be ready to take off your shoes, jump into the pit, and be a kid again as you disappear into a sea of foam marshmallows. It's the perfect place to top off the Candytopia fun and even have a marshmallow fight with your friends! I won't lie, I'm almost 30 and out of shape, so I was a little out of breath and sore after swimming through the marshmallow sea, but it's definitely worth it!
Candytopia is full of many illusions and green screens to take photos! Make sure to have your camera ready and download the Candytopia app because it will help you navigate this candy theme park, as well as provide a QR code to save all of your photos taken at the exhibit. You'll definitely want to capture this awesome experience.
Overall, I had a great time at Candytopia. It was fun to let loose, admire candy art, and get candy-wasted for a couple of hours! Definitely check out Candytopia if you get the chance. You'll be in for a huge treat that's guaranteed to give you a sweet time!
