ICE! ICE! BABY! - Gaylord ICE! Exhibit

While in Orlando, I took a break from the heat and cooled off at the ICE! exhibit at the Gaylord Palms. This year's theme was THE POLAR EXPRESS™, a heart-warming holiday favorite. This one-of-a-kind experience takes guests on a journey to the North Pole via The Polar Express through hand-carved sculptures and displays made from over 2 million pounds of clear and colored ice .

Although indoors, this magical adventure is a chilling 9-degrees! Guests are provided complimentary parkas to wear throughout the journey to help keep warm. I recommend wearing warm clothes, a hat, and gloves in addition to the parka because it's literally freezing.

The ICE! exhibit really brings The Polar Express to life complete with a train, conductor, reindeer, Santa Claus, and more, all made completely from ice! The Frostbite Factory within the exhibit showcases live ice carving with artisans from Harbin, China, who designed the entire exhibit. The ICE! exhibit also features a five-story slide made from ice, which is my favorite part. There's also a crystal-clear ice Nativity scene with the larger-than-life angel and starry night sky at the end of the journey to honor the true meaning of Christmas.

I definitely felt like I was at the North Pole while venturing through The Polar Express exhibit at ICE! It takes about 30 minutes to walk through this self-guided experience depending on how long you can tolerate the cold. It's a lot of fun and your adrenaline is rushing from the excitement, so it doesn't feel like it's actually 41-degrees below freezing. However, it is cold, and a hot chocolate was needed after! Overall, ICE! did an amazing job presenting The Polar Express. I'm excited to see what next year's theme will be.

The ICE! experience is also available at Gaylord Opryland (Nashville, TN), Gaylord Texan (Dallas/Ft. Worth) Gaylord National (Washington D.C.), and Gaylord Rockies (Denver, CO). Each location has a different theme. A Christmas Story™, A Charlie Brown Christmas, How the Grinch Stole Christmas, and Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer. If you're in one of these areas, definitely check it out this year or make plans to go next year because it's worth the visit! Visiting ICE! is definitely one of my favorite holiday traditions to celebrate the most wonderful time of the year!

Tickets can be purchased online on your preferred Gaylord hotel website. Advanced purchase is recommended.
