It's that time of year! Here we go with the “New Year, New Me,” “2019 is going to be my year,” and all of the New Year resolutions posts. The gyms will be packed, everyone will be starting diets, and doing a plethora of other things in an attempt to change their life all of a sudden after the clock strikes midnight on January 1st. That’s fine, but good luck if you can actually stick to these resolutions because it takes a minimum of 21 days to build a new habit and to break an old one. It's really more like 60 days. With that said, most people fall off before February even hits. It may work for some, but I know it doesn’t work for me.
For the past few years, I decided to write New Years Goals instead of actual resolutions. It’s easier to actually see the goals on paper and actively be working towards something. I even break my goals out into categories (physical, mental, intellectual, spiritual, financial, professional, creative, and travel). This allows me to hold myself accountable in all aspects of life, visualize a plan to achieve the goals, and evaluate my progress throughout the year.
What are some of your goals for 2019?
I use a Passion Planner every year to keep track of my daily life, as well as map out my goals. This planner is absolutely amazing! The planner has space to map out your long term and short term goals and create a road map to achieving them. There is a weekly layout that can be used to create intentions for the week, keep track of appointments and commitments, and personal and work to-do lists. It also includes inspirational quotes and challenges for each week. At the end of each month, there is a Monthly Reflection page, where you can evaluate your month, where and how you spent your time, and progress towards goals. The Passion Planner has worked wonders for my life over the past four years.
How do you organize your goals and life?
Hopefully you have some sort of system to stay organized going into the New Year. Definitely take time to write out some things you'd like to accomplish this upcoming year. Thank you for reading, and I wish you a blessed, prosperous, and fabulous New Year. Cheers to 2019!
